🌅 Miraflores – Clifftop Elegance

01

Miraflores

Upscale District · Pacific Cliffs

Walk along the scenic Malecón, a clifftop promenade with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Visit Parque del Amor with its Gaudí-inspired mosaic walls, and enjoy a coffee or meal at Larcomar, the clifftop mall carved into the rock face. At sunset, the views from the Malecón are simply spectacular.

Tip: Watch paragliders launch from the cliffs at Parque Raimondi for a memorable sight.

🎨 Barranco – Bohemian Soul

02

Barranco

Arts District · Lima's Bohemian Heart

Lima's most atmospheric district is a labyrinth of colorful murals, contemporary art galleries, and lively bars. Don't miss the iconic Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs), the weekly Bajada de los Baños walkway, and the excellent MATE museum dedicated to photographer Mario Testino. After dark, Barranco transforms into the city's most vibrant nightlife hub.

Tip: Come on a Sunday afternoon when locals fill the streets and live music spills out of the bars.

🏛️ Historic Center

03

Historic Center (Centro Histórico)

UNESCO World Heritage · Colonial Architecture

Lima's historic center is one of the finest examples of Spanish colonial architecture in the Americas. Visit the Plaza Mayor, the impressive Cathedral, the Government Palace, and the ornate Palacio Torre Tagle. The Monastery of San Francisco contains extraordinary catacombs beneath the city streets.

Tip: Visit on a weekday morning to avoid weekend crowds and see the changing of the guard at the Government Palace.

🍽️ Lima's World-Class Food Scene

Lima is widely considered the gastronomic capital of Latin America. For the classic Lima experience, taste fresh ceviche at La Mar or Punto Azul in Miraflores. For fine dining that regularly ranks among the world's best, Central (Chef Virgilio Martínez) and Maido (Chef Mitsuharu Tsumura) are exceptional — but require reservations weeks in advance.

🌙 Nightlife

Barranco's bars and rooftop lounges come alive after 10 PM, with live salsa, electronic music, and craft cocktails. The neighborhood of Miraflores offers more upscale options along Av. La Paz. Lima's nightlife is genuinely world-class and runs late into the night on weekends.

🏺 Museums

The Larco Museum in Pueblo Libre houses one of the world's finest collections of pre-Columbian art, with over 45,000 artifacts including a famous erotic pottery gallery. The MALI (Museo de Arte de Lima) holds an excellent collection of Peruvian art from pre-Columbian times to the 20th century.

🏄 Beaches & Adventure

The Costa Verde below the Miraflores cliffs offers surfing, paragliding from the clifftops, and a string of seaside restaurants. The waves at Punta Hermosa, 40 minutes south of the city, attract serious surfers year-round.
